Animals

 VERMONT

The Canadian Geese on this mural have taken up residence in the kitchen of a Vermont

ski house which they share with a six point buck and a very large turtle.

MAINE

This handpainted ceramic tile mural was commissioned to add interest to the small open kitchen space in the living area of a garage apartment.

The subject matter depicts the abundance of the summertime in Maine.

The apartment is mostly used as guest quarters for a rambling seaside vacation house,

but the owners use it themselves when they want to be there in the cold Maine winter. It's a smaller and cozier space to heat.

DEBBIE'S PETS

3 Horses, a Kitty, and a Red Canary

Their architect, Kenneth Lange AIA, of Stamford, Connecticut introduced us to this couple who love animals.

The cat shown here sits to the right of their large professional cook top and her three feline friends are over on the left side.

The owners wanted to include all of their pets as well as some of the wild animals that inhabit their large piece of land on thehandpainted custom tile mural in their new kitchen addition .

On the mural across the room are portraits of their three horses on a six-foot long backsplash.

They stand together looking across the fence as another cat stretches on the fence to sniff the nearest horse.

The red canary sits on one of their heads. Around the corner the two yappy little dogs are chasing the local wildlife down the length of the ceramic tile backsplashes in the pantry.

CERAMIC SERENGETI

The woman who commissioned these murals is in love with Africa.

She has been on several camera safaris and she lives for her next trip to the Serengeti.

Many of the details in the panels were taken directly from her reams of wonderful photographs of wild animals and scenery.

We were introduced by her interior designer, Lynn Brown ASID, of Darien, Connecticut.

The leopard is at eye level and looks her square in the face every morning as she cooks her breakfast.

He is hungry too.  Below him the thirsty rhinos head for the river.
